Metanoia was a word used by psychoanalyst Carl Jung to indicate the spontaneous attempt of the psyche to heal itself of unbearable conflict by melting down and then being reborn in a more adaptive form. This process of mental alchemy is described throughout my 'Metanoia' series by structures that fall apart and reform, dark giving way to light, earth into air, solid into liquid, figurative imagery melting into abstraction and vice versa. Visual transformations that capture the turbulent moment of change between one state and the next.
