Hrīm

Regular price £1,000

Hrīm was inspired by the first frost of winter. The frosted leaves within this piece were from photographs taken in my own garden, on an early morning when I woke to find that first layer of ice which had emerged overnight.

The title Hrīm is an Old English word for 'rime' which means a thin layer of ice.

Unlike the vivid colours of my earlier work, Hrīm leans into a quieter, darker palette: mauves, silvers, deep greens — the kinds of tones I’ve learned to see only by slowing down and really paying attention to nature’s subtleties.

Inspired by the slow wisdom of the natural world this piece is a reflection on winter as a necessary season — not something to push through, but to honour.
